Any child, below the age of 18 years old, can participate and submit a dream with minimal guidance from an adult (parent, educator, ambassador). It has however been observed that children above the age of 8 years are able to dream constructively with purpose. Children of any ethnicity, gender, religion, disability and socio-economic backgrounds are welcome. Visually/hearing-impaired and other differently-abled children unable to draw or write can submit their dream over an audio or video message. Every child's dream is special for us!
While the Creative Daydreaming workshop, provided here, is designed to be conducted by #DreamOnX ambassadors, educators or parents, the 2 activities can also be done by a child alone, with minimal supervision by an adult. However the submission of the dream will require an adult's assistance.
This workshop can be conducted in person or online with a group of children.
Considering the current constraints of conducting a workshop with kids in person, educators/facilitators may choose to conduct workshops online via Zoom, Google Meet, Instagram Live, Facebook Live and other online video conferencing tools.
Once the briefing and instructions have been provided (takes 15 min), the child can do the 2 activities by themselves. On completion, make sure the child emails hi-resolution scanned copies of the drawing (required) and write-up to you. Audio/video recordings can also be provided to supplement this submission. Differently-abled children may choose to provide their dreams in this format.
DRAW (must have): A child can draw, doodle, paint or even build their dream. Materials such as A4/A3 size paper (2 per child). Set of pencils, crayons, sketch pens, paint/brush, or any other drawing materials can be used. If you are providing building materials, such as LEGO®, STEAM toolkits or reusable materials, then provide more time for the building activity. A picture of the creation must be submitted. Scanned copy of the drawing (hi-res JPEG, PNG, PDF). Make sure the filename starts with child's name. File size limit: 5 MB
WRITE (good to have): The dream can be written in the form of a poem, essay, short story, memoir, letter or any other creative writing format. Letters may be addressed to the leader of the country. Word limit is 200 words. The idea is to let the child express in written format. This can be written in any language(s). Hand-written is recommended over typed format. Scanned copy of the write-up (hi-res JPEG, PNG, PDF, DOC). Make sure the filename starts with child's name. File size limit: 5 MB
RECORD (nice to have): Children can submit a video or audio recording of their dream, only if you have their parent’s consent. This can be in the form of a song, musical rendition or any other creative experience. MP3, WAV, MP4, WMV, MPEG and other audio/video formats. Make sure the filename starts with child's name. File size limit: 10 MB. You can also upload this or rectod the video on the Flipgrid at https://flipgrid.com/dreamonx
Once the child has done the 2 activities (draw a dream and write about the dream), the dream needs to submitted using this form (accepts one child's dream at a time). If you are submitting dreams for many children in one go, then use this spreadsheet. Follow the instructions provided in the first tab.
Ambassadors are a special group of people selected to drive the #DreamOnX movement in your country. They typically have a background in education and child well-being and development. Ambassadors have access to children and run the daydreaming workshop for children in their city. They inspire and invite children and educators to participate in the #DreamOnX program. They believe in the power of visualization and are passionate about letting children express themselves without bias. Ambassadors are a part of a Cohort, empowered with a toolkit that contains the necessary research, process and infrastructure to capture dreams of children. Check out the levels of commitment and apply to become an Ambassador at this link.
Partners are typically global influencers, large organizations or networks capable of distributing and/or executing this program for multiple countries. They send emailers and post the #DreamOnX campaign on social media for wider reach. Please email your request for partnership with details on these capabilities to dreamonxorg@gmail.com
Once selected, Ambassadors and Partners receive badges honoring them of their commitment.
